Activities
Activity is an important part of the care we provide.
We listen to what the residents like to do, have done before they came to live with us
as well as new activities they would like try. Our activities co-ordinator arranges an
impressive weekly timetable of activities within the home and in the local community
that residents can choose to get involved in.
From flower arranging, card club, theatre trips to themed evenings and many more.
Almost every week there is a party or celebration of some kind. However, it's more
than just arranging sing alongs' and day trips, many of our residents want to feel
usefully and actively engaged in every day tasks. So we welcome them if they want to
help out in the garden or give the chef advice on a good cake recipe!
Returning to person-centred care and why it is so important. Each resident's interests
and activities vary greatly, we listen to each resident's life story, much loved hobbies
and interests should not have to be given up when they move in with us. We want our
residents to carry on an active life with as much independence as they are able or
want to have.
We have fund-raising events for charities such as Macmillan and Age UK.
We all get involved, even our managing director took up a new activity, and blisters,
with support of the staff and residents and ran the 2011 London Marathon for the first
time to raise money for Age UK.
“Thank you from the bottom of our
hearts for taking great care of Mum,
God bless you all”.
